Setup in 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Plug In
Connect the included RJ45 cable between Helikeep and your charge controller's communication port. Compatible with any controller with an RS485/Modbus RJ45 port — usually labelled 'RS485' or 'COM'. No tools needed. 30 seconds.
Step 2: Connect to WiFi
When Helikeep powers on for the first time, it creates a WiFi hotspot called 'Helikeep-XXXX'. Connect from your phone, select your WiFi network, enter the password, and optionally create a free cloud account. 2-3 minutes.
Step 3: Monitor From Anywhere
Once connected, Helikeep reads your solar system every 14 minutes. See real-time data on your local network or from anywhere via the free cloud dashboard.

Battery Voltage
The primary health indicator — and estimated state of charge.
Solar Panel
Voltage, current, and power output.
Load Output
Voltage, current, power consumption, and ON/OFF status.
Overnight Estimate
"Your battery will last until 6:42 AM" — so you know whether to worry or relax.
Charging Mode
Bulk, Boost (Absorption), Float, or Equalization.
Temperatures
Controller and device temperatures for safety monitoring.
What Happens Automatically
After setup, Helikeep works silently in the background. You don't need to do anything.
If voltage drops below 12.1V, load is disconnected. When it recovers above 12.4V, load is restored. Works without internet.
Get notified when battery is low, load shedding activates, device goes offline, or temperatures are abnormal.
Checks for firmware updates every 6 hours. Downloads and installs automatically. No manual intervention.
Need to Change Settings?
Change WiFi Network
If you move your caravan or change your router, hold the device button for 5 seconds during startup. Helikeep returns to setup mode and you can connect to a new WiFi network.
Adjust Battery Thresholds
Different battery types need different protection levels. Configure through the local web interface or cloud dashboard: Calcium/Sealed (12.1V/12.4V), AGM (11.8V/12.2V), LiFePO4 (12.0V/12.8V), Gel (11.7V/12.1V).
